Call for Proposal to Offer Short Courses
18th U.S. National Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
Co-Organized with the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
June 5 – 9, 2018, Chicago, Illinois, USA
The US National Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is held every four years under the auspices of the U.S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNC/TAM) to foster and promote the exchange of ideas and information among the various disciplines of the TAM community around the world, and to chart future priorities in mechanics related research, applications and education. The 18th USNC/TAM will be hosted by Northwestern University, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare from June 5 – 9, 2018. For the first time, the Congress will be jointly organized with the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM).
Proposals are invited to offer short courses at the 18th USNC/TAM. Classrooms are reserved 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon) on June 5, 2018. All short courses should be about 4 hours divided into two sections with a 30 min break in between. Instructor(s) will receive a total $600 honorarium for each course taught. The registration fee is $150 for each attendee. Any course with enrollment below 10 will be canceled by May 10, 2018. Proposals must include the following information:
Name(s) of the instructor(s) and their contact information (email, phone and affiliation)
Title of the short course – a short paragraph to briefly describe the main focus of the short course
Expected number of attendeees
Proposals should be submitted online at http://sites.northwestern.edu/usnctam2018/short-course-proposal-submisson/ by 5:00 PM Eastern (2:00 PM Pacific), Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
