Call for Proposals to Organize Symposia
18th U.S. National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
Co-Organized with the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
June 5 – 9, 2018, Chicago, Illinois, USA
The US National Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is held every four years under the auspices of the U.S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNC/TAM) to foster and promote the exchange of ideas and information among the various disciplines of the TAM community around the world, and to chart future priorities in mechanics related research, applications and education. The 18th USNC/TAM will be hosted by Northwestern University, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare from June 5 – 9, 2018. For the first time, the Congress will be jointly organized with the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM).
Proposals are invited to organize symposia at the 18th USNC/TAM. Symposia are the scientific centerpiece of the congress and they will be organized in themes. Each theme should identify its fundamental discipline and domain of applications. Examples of the focused fundamental disciplines and domains of applications are listed in the table below. Proposals must include the following information:
- Names of the organizers (minimum of two) and their contact information (e-mail, phone and affiliation)
- Title of the symposium – with a short paragraph to briefly describe the main focus of the symposium
- Keyword from Application Domains and keyword from Fundamental Disciplines (see table below)
- Expected number of presentations
Proposals should be submitted online at http://sites.northwestern.edu/usnctam2018/symposium-proposals-submission/ by 5:00 PM Eastern (2:00 PM Pacific), Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
