International Exchange

CSTAM became an adhering national organization of International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) since 1980. It is the member organization of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM), the Asian Fluid Mechanics Committee (AFMC, as one of its founding members), and the International Congress on Fracture (ICF). As a result, CSTAM has successfully sponsored several influential international congresses to be held in China, such as WCCM VI& APCOM’04, ICTAM2012, ICF13 etc.

23rd International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mehanics, August 19th-24th, 2012

CSTAM keeps regular contact with other international bodies, including American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineering (JSME), and World Conference on Computational Mechanics (WCCM), Germany Association of Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM), Asian Pacific Congress on Fracture (APCF). Some members of CSTAM Council serve as leading positions (president, vice president, executive director, director) in these organizations.

Beijing International Center for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (BICTAM)

Meeting on Founding BICTAM, August 17th, 2007

Founded in 2007, Beijing International Center for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (BICTAM) is an international non-governmental scientific organization, which is affiliated to IUTAM (since 2010) and operates in close collaboration with the ICSU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The Center’s aim is to promote the development and application of mechanics in Asia and the Pacific region. Since 2013, Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters (TAML) has been appointed as the official publication of BICTAM. Up to now, the Center has already organized 70 various activities such as conferences, symposia, workshops and summer schools, and attracted over 800 hundred participants.
