13th Asian Congress on Fluid Mechanics was held in Dhaka on 17-21 December, 2010

The 13th Asian Congress on Fluid Mechanics was held in Dhaka on 17-21 December, 2010. More than 250 participants from 20 countries, including India,China, Japan,Bangladesh, Australia, Iran, Vietnam, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore,Hong Kong,Sri Lanka, Russia, Nigeria, Canada , Denmark, Norway, Finland, USA and UK, all over the world took part in the meeting.

In order to celebrate the grand event of the 30th anniversary of ACFM, 3 memorial, 4 plenary lectures and 7 invited speakers were arranged. According to the theme “Natural and human-induced hazard mitigation”, 3 mini-symposia were set up, for the first time, in the congress. Altogether,227 invited and contributed papers on traditional as well as new frontier issues in fluid dynamics and their applications were presented at the meeting.

The success of the 13th ACFM is due to satisfactory collaboration between AFMC and the local organizing committee led by Professor A.K.M. Sadrul Islam of Islamic University of Technology.

As usual, we have two regular meetings of AFMC during the period and a bi-annual report to the committee was given by Chairman, Professor Li. By comprehensive consideration, AFMC has finally decided that the 14th ACFM will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam in the autumn, 2013.
