On 15 March 2026, the 11th Solid Mechanics Committee of CSTAM held its first meeting, together with the 2026 Workshop on Strategy for Solid Mechanics in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi. More than 200 experts from 70 institutions attended. Four distinguished keynote lectures were delivered:

· Professor Yang Wei (Zhejiang University) on Digintel Mechanics and Applications;

· Professor Guo Wanlin (Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics) on Frontiers and Challenges in Solid Mechanics;

· Professor Zhou Youhe (Lanzhou University) on Nonlinear Multi-field Coupling Mechanics; and

· Professor Leng Jinsong (Harbin Institute of Technology) on Smart Morphing Air craft.

The meeting also featured invited talks on topics ranging from solid-state cooling to polar engineering and developmental mechanobiology. A broad discussion emphasised the need to align fundamental research with national strategic needs, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and embrace AI as a new research paradigm.
